About New Beginnings Assembly of God
Who we are:
We are a church in Canby for families. We are a Pentecostal church affiliated with Turning Point Church in Milwaukie Oregon and with the Assemblies of God.
Our purpose is leading people into Salvation through Jesus Christ and a deeper relationship with God through the work of the Holy Spirit.
What Can I expect?
One of the most uncomfortable aspects of visiting a new church can be, not knowing what to expect. What will it be like? Am I going to stand out? What do they have for my kids? What should I wear?
We’d like you to have a great experience at New Beginnings Assembly!
Here’s what to expect at a weekend service:
We have greeters at the door for any questions you may have and we have an information packet for new visitors.
- Service lasts 90 minutes or less.
- Dress is casual.
- We offer safe, secure, and age appropriate environments where your kids will have a great time!
- We encourage Pentecostal/Charismatic expression in our services.
- Our worship style reflects our Family friendly congregation.
New Beginnings Assembly is a safe place to hear a life-changing message!
Story of New Beginnings
For many years we have felt a call to start a church in Canby Oregon. Growing up just a few miles from town it was a familiar place for me personally and has always had a special place in my heart. In 2015 coming back from a mission’s trip to Kenya, God began to speak to us again about starting a church in Canby. We had no money and we had no people for a congregation.
We began talking with people we had a relationship with asking if they wanted to help be part a new church. Within a few weeks we had a number of people that were interested in being a part of something new. We had no place to meet. After making a few calls to other churches the Canby church of the Nazarene came forward and said we could use there facility. Their only stipulation was that we only meet on Saturdays. We had no money for rent and no insurance. We took up a collection and were able to come up with enough funds to pay rent to the Nazarene church. Around the same time Pastor Bob Mihuc from Turning Point church in Milwaukie Oregon committed his church to being our parent church. Turning Point was able to get us insurance.
On July 11, 2015 New Beginnings began officially meeting as a church at the Nazarene church in Canby. It all started with a small group of people. Now we are growing and have been able to reach many young people as a result. Although we are still a new church we are becoming a solid church in the community.
